Yes! Honestly, skydiving videos and photos are worth every penny … and then some. In fact, skydiving videos are so worth it, we have yet to meet someone who regretted making the decision to get a skydiving video. Although, we have met plenty of people who regret deciding not to get a skydiving video … particularly for their first time skydiving!
We know that ponying up the extra dough to get a skydiving media package might seem excessive — it’s anything but! Here’s what makes skydiving video worth it.

Relive the Skydiving Experience
Your first skydive will seem to pass by in the blink of an eye. In part, this occurs because a first-time skydiving experience introduces you to a plethora of new external stimuli. Your body will be awash in sights, sounds, emotions, and physical sensations you’ve never experienced before. The result is a sensory overload — your brain just simply isn’t able to process all the environmental information it’s being given!
This sensory overload is also what makes it a bit hard to recall exactly what happened on the skydive. By springing for a skydiving video, you’ll have the ability to put yourself back into the moment to relive the skydiving experience over and over again.
You’ll watch yourself get geared up – you looked uncertain but excited! Remember how it felt to ride on the plane to altitude, the air thick with nervous energy? Feel the rush of air as the door of the airplane was opened. Freak out all over again as you take that pivotal step into the wild blue yonder once more!! Watch the many facial expressions you pulled during freefall – especially your HUGE smile. See the joy (and relief!) as your parachute opened. And of course, celebrate your safe landing to the world below again.

Experiencing these moments anew is completely possible when you get a media package. But, without one, those skydiving video memories may start to dull and fade back into the recessed creases of your brain. Nobody wants that!
Permanent Proof of Skydiving Accomplishment
There may well come a day when you need a potent reminder of your worth. When the world seems just a touch too big, and you feel small, helpless, and lost. In these instances, may they be few and far between, it helps to have a piece of undeniable proof of the amazing, strong, and capable person you are.
If you were able to embrace your fear and step from the aircraft, even though you had no idea what might lie on the other side, you have the mental and emotional fortitude to handle whatever life throws at you. A skydiving video tells the story of one of your best and bravest days. It’s worth it because it’s proof of your skydiving accomplishment and a reminder of the incredible things you are capable of!

Sharing Skydiving Video
The opportunity to share a skydiving video is also another worthwhile reason to invest in the purchase. A skydiving video of your first jump isn’t just for you. You can use it to potentially empower others to follow their dreams of flight too!
For the friends and family who may not have been able to support you on the day of your jump, a skydiving video gives them the opportunity to relive the skydiving experience with you. Allow them to share in your special experience by watching your video. And who knows who might be joining you for your next jump!
Analyzing Skydiving Technique
Particularly if you are interested in learning to skydive, a skydiving video can be a valuable tool. It can show you exactly what happened during freefall. For example, you might have thought you were arching as deeply as could be, but the video shows another story entirely!
As you go through a learn to skydive program, your instructors will utilize personalized skydiving video to assess your performance in the air. As you progress, you can begin to use these videos to help with body awareness, a particularly valuable skill for skydiving.

Types of Skydiving Video
Not just anyone can strap on a camera and film skydiving. The USPA (United States Parachute Association) recommends that an individual have 200 jumps before having the privilege to fly with a camera.
While all skydiving videos are captured with a camera, the primary difference in the types of skydiving video packages are whether the camera is hand-mounted to the instructor or worn by a professional skydiving videographer. These two types of skydiving videos are known as hand-cam and outside video.
Hand-Cam Skydiving Video
Hand-cam skydiving videos are captured utilizing a camera, often a GoPro, that’s literally mounted to the tandem instructor’s hand by way of a specialized glove.
Hand-cam provides an up close and personal, first-person perspective of every riveting moment of the skydiving experience. Though the angles may be less flattering in freefall, hand-cam is the only skydiving video option that can capture the unique look of relief on your face as the parachute opens and the quiet bliss of time spent flying beneath the canopy.
Outside Skydiving Video
When it comes to outside skydiving video, three’s company! The term “outside skydiving video” is utilized when a professional skydiving videographer joins a tandem pair to capture video utilizing a camera mounted on their helmet. Because these shots are taken by someone outside of the tandem pair, they provide more context for and perspective of the monumental experience that is skydiving compared to the up-close and personal shots taken via hand-cam. You also capture more of the gorgeous views that might surround the dropzone.
